Coach Marc

Director/Treasurer/Coach
Marc Williams

Marc Williams was born and raised in Hartford, Connecticut. After graduating from Weaver High School, Marc attended the University of New Haven on a Football and Track scholarship. Two years later he transferred to Central Connecticut State University where he earned his Bachelors. Marc learned that being a successful individual meant following an unpopular path, however, all positive paths go in the same direction. Marc is currently employed as the Manager of Budget and Development for the Hartford Public School System.

Overall, Marc’s coaching began as a volunteer in 1998 in the Mayor Mike Peter’s League and that experience enlightened him how he can give back to the community. Since 1998, he has coached AAU basketball. Marc began his high school coaching career as the girl’s junior varsity coach at Capital Preparatory Magnet School for 2 years before becoming the varsity coach for another 3 years.

In 2002, Marc along with three other individuals started the Connecticut Spirit Girls Basketball Organization. In addition to being one of the Directors of the program, Marc is also the treasurer for the organization and a head coach of one of the Connecticut Spirits National Teams. As a coach Marc's teams have had tremendous success on a state and national level. Marc also coached his daughter which assisted her in achieving her dream of playing Division I basketball (Indiana University).

Marc’s primary goal is to assist all players in obtaining the knowledge of one’s inner self through basketball, which would ultimately allow each player to develop and learn how to put forth a winning effort and gain the confidence to challenge themselves. Marc’s objective while coaching is to mentor, encourage and support youth on their journey of discovery and growth, as they travel the road to adulthood by establishing two key ingredients needed for success: Self- Esteem and Self-Confidence.

Marc is dedicated to using his coaching experience and organization to be a part of that “village” needed to foster our youth. He continues to work hard to develop a “coaching” knowledge of the game. Sports have always been a part of Marc’s life and has guided him to the person he is today. Athletics can help mold youth, as well as, shield them away from the negative forces that can interfere in a child’s life. Marc always had love for the game of basketball. His competitive Spirit will show in practices, in games and off the court. Marc accepts the title "role model"!
“The Connecticut AAU Association awarded Marc the 2009 Volunteer of the Year”
