Alyssa Barrett

Alyssa Barrett Alyssa grew up in Berlin, Connecticut where she graduated from Berlin High School in 2011. She competed at the varsity level all four years and was honored as Captain in her fourth year. Alyssa competed for Coach Marc Williams and Coach Keith McClendon as part of the Spirit organization until she continued her career at the birthplace of women's collegiate basketball, Smith College. There, her team broke numerous records and were named ESPN Woman's team to watch as they competed in the 2013 NCAA tournament. She graduated with a double major in English and Education in 2015 after finishing strong with two consecutive years on the Dean's list at the top fifteen liberal arts college. Before her senior year, Alyssa spent the summer studying at Oxford University where she was able to focus on literature, teaching methods, but also traveling England and Ireland. She came home to finish her basketball career at Smith by being selected by her peers as Captain while also being named to the Marly Pineda Pioneer Team for the second year in a row.

Alyssa has worked many camps in the area as well as Massachusettes. This past summer she began her own camp alongside her father, mentor, and Spirit coach, Tim Barrett. She has worked vigorously with both Spirit and travel teams in the past. This year Alyssa has been named head coach of the Berlin 7th grade girl's team with Coach Tim assisting. She is also the head coach of the Spirit 5th grade team alongside Coach Bri Pabon. Alyssa has begun her teaching career with the West Hartford Public Schools system and plans to continue to teach high school English and coach women's basketball throughout her life.
